The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, has approved $39,000 to the Snowflake-Taylor Public Library for the renovation of a children’s area and a new meeting space. The grant requires a local match of at least the same amount or more. Ella McAdams, the new library director, applied for the grant.
The Snowflake Town Council approved the local match in their January meeting. The Taylor Town council also approved the local match. Among the many shared services between the two municipalities, the library is funded by both towns proportionately.
Ms. McAdams stated that the grant will allow the library to nearly double the space for programs including yoga, kids coding classes, summer reading activities, and book clubs, just to name a few. In particular, the project will create more space for preschool story time; making it more feasible to allow children with their parents to be able to come and stay with more options for play and interaction. While story time is currently being held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, Ms. McAdams is hopeful that in-person meetings will be able to resume soon. The grant requires the project to be completed by July 31, 2022.
Great job STPL and both towns working together to continue providing library service to our combined communities.
