Local census data was released on Thursday by the U.S Census Bureau. That data shows that Snowflake’s population within town limits is now 6,104, an increase of 9.2% from the 2010 census. Snowflake’s 2010 population was 5,590.
The results released Thursday, however, show Taylor lost 2.8% of its population, dropping to 3,995 from 2010’s amount of 4,112.
It is unlikely that the actual population in Taylor decreased, especially considering the amount of building permits issued within the last few years by the Town of Taylor. Unfortunately, the Census is relied on to proportion funds and representation at county, state, and federal levels.
Navajo County’s overall population decreased too by 0.7%, going from 107,448 down to 106,717.
The Census Bureau is scheduled to release all 2020 census data next month.
