On July 14th, the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department was awarded full accreditation by the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) and the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program(ALEAP). Chief Bobby Martin initiated the process two and half years ago.
The State of Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is a voluntary program whose goal is to establish and maintain standards that represent professional law enforcement behaviors and practices while increasing the effectiveness and efficacy of the many roles entrusted in our officers and support staff.
There are over thirty categories that are evaluated during this process resulting in 175 standards that must be met. It takes not just the cooperation of the entire department and countless extra hours spent on site, but it also takes the love of a community that both sees and appreciates all that our police department does.
The Accreditation Board had this to say of Chief Martin and STPD: “The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Robert Martin, started the self- assessment portion of the ALEAP accreditation program on January 17, 2019. But to say they started then would not be a complete picture of the time, effort, and commitment to ALEAP that Chief Martin and the men and women of the Snowflake-Taylor Police Department have put into the program.”
Chief Robert Martin is proud of his whole department and their fine work. The Chief had this response to receiving the award: “This was a major project and extensive undertaking for the department. Each member had a role to fill and responsibility to make this achievement a reality” Police Chief Martin said. “This is a major step forward for not only the department but for every citizen we serve. As we continue to grow, develop, and improve, we will continue to look for ways to increase our level of professionalism, and this accreditation is a great example of our department’s resolve to serve our community with pride, integrity, and trust.”
The Mayors of both Snowflake and Taylor commended the department on their massive success and take pride in the initiative taken by Chief Martin.
On behalf of the Silver Creek Herald, we congratulate the entire department on their momentous accomplishment.
