Lobo Basketball Teams Start Season Strong
Girls and Boys Basketball Teams Win Their First 3 Contests
After being postponed, then canceled, and finally reinstated, the Snowflake High School boys and girls basketball teams began playing their seasons. With attendance limited, two persons per each home-team player, the boys and girls Lobos swept their first week of action; taking an early season lead in the 3A East standings. AIA rankings won’t be released until February 11.
On January 19, the boys team played Chino Valley and easily won the game with a final score of 65 to 19. Next, on January 21, the Lobos played Round Valley High School. The Lobos easily handled the Elks with a final score of 61 to 25. Finally, on January 22, the Lobos faced Safford High School and won that contest with a score of 76 to 48.
Equally impressive, the the Lady Lobo squad beat Chino Valley 62-15, Round Valley 61-35 and Safford 64-43 making their record 3-0 on the season.
In week two, the boys and girls Lobo teams will travel to Show Low on January 27 to face Show Low High School in their first away game. The next day, January 28, they’ll be back at home to play Holbrook High School.
With in-person attendance limited, the high school has provided a YouTube feed for fans to join-in virtually. Each contest has been covered so far by local radio broadcasts of Sports Zone Radio and Italk 1067. Tonight’s game against Show Low will be covered by all 3 broadcasts.
