Debi Bennett Retires After 25 Years with Snowflake School District
Recognized at March School Board Meeting
In the March school board meeting, the retirement of Debi Bennett was on the agenda. Ms. Bennett is a speech therapist and has worked for the Snowflake School District for 25 years. During the meeting, Student Services Director, Cindy Peterson, recognized the excellent career that Ms. Bennett has had. She shared a letter addressed to Ms. Bennett. In part, it states:
“You have changed the life of a child just one word at a time and given them a voice. You have given so much time and talent to your profession… Thousands of therapy sessions done with love and kindness to students. Countless meetings with parents and staff, always done with professionalism and respect…Each staff member and student was made to feel unique and valued…and it is now time to enjoy your retirement. From my heart to yours, may your time with your family be as precious as it was with our family.”
The Herald reached out to Debi Bennett and she said the following:
“I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have had to work for the Snowflake School District as a Speech Therapist.
“My career started in Show Low where I worked for 4 years and when the opportunity opened up for me to work in my hometown of Snowflake, I was very grateful, and have been blessed to do so for the past 25 years.
“The bonds that have been forged, between coworkers, students and families, has been priceless. My coworkers have become my second family and I have seen many come and go. I am also very grateful for the support of my family and the sacrifices that come when a mom works. I have been blessed to work in the same district so I could see their programs, plays, and sport events.
“Thank you again SUSD for all the happy and sad times, for the struggles and opportunities for growth, for the wonderful memories, and for the joy of being a part in a child’s life and growth.”
The Silver Creek Herald appreciates all the talented and hardworking educators in our community and congratulates Debi Bennett on her retirement.
